Insider's memoir of TEAM LOTUS taking on a revolutionaizing the Indy 500 race between 1963-1969, bringing F1 style rear engined cars and sophisticarted chassis construction to the famous American event which remained , techinally, somewhat stuck in the 1950s at the time.
Ferguson was part of the team that took Jim Clark to the 1965 win, brough in Ford with it's big buck DOHC V8 engine and Colin Chapman's cutting edge design ethose to the Brickyard.
Later year saw 4wd, gas turnine and turbochargers, they also saw friction and potential law suits with sponsor STP and a rather comic tale of hiding cars in suburban lock up garages to avoid being seized.
Sadly it also includes the effect of Jim Clark's death prior to the 1968 race and the shocking demise of his replacement Mike Spence in a track crash at the track only weeks later.
