257 page hardback history of Berlin's infamous high speed AVUS circuit , most well known for the huge banked bend that towered over the paddock and start line from the mid 30s to the 1970s and promoted some of the fastest average speeds ever recorded for circuit racing at the time.
A test and race track it was host to German GPs and major events , particularly in the 1930s and the era of the SILVER ARROWS Grand Prix Mercedes and Auto Union cars, which raced with specially designed streamlined bodywork to take advantage of the huge long straights .
