Lovely atmospheric shot of the famous Baron de Graffenried sat in the cockpit of his Maserati A6GCM F2 car in the Silverstone Paddock at the 1953 Daily ExpressTrophy.
His mechanic is doing some last minute work and the Baron looks a bit worried as a result! Note also the caravans etc in the background. Motor racing as it was!In this event he won the first heat from Stirling Moss's Cooper-Alta and led the final from eventual winner Mike Hawthorn ina factory Ferrari but had jumped the start and was black flagged. He still recorded joint fastest lap with Mike.
