Super-rare biography of a 1920s-30s racing driver who held the lap record at Brooklands, won the first RAC TT race held in Ireland in 1928, raced a wide variety of cars from MG , Sunbeam and Alvis to Bugatti . Also raced powerboats in the Harmsworth Trophy again Gar Wood, set a water speed record in MISS ENGLAND 2 and whose career met a tragic end when a practice accident on the Isle of Man in 1934 left his riding mechanic dead and Don himself in the dock, found guilty oif manslaughter, for which he went to prison. The book, somewhat surprisingly for the time, covers this final chapter and even includes a photo taken in court, which is extremely unusual in British courts where cameras have long been banned. 288 pages
