Great 10x7 inch (250x175mm) photo of the Healey Silverstone driven by Jimmie (brother of Jackie) Stewart,  seen here at the start of the 1952 Bo'Ness hillclimb in Scotland.

Jimmie was a regular sports car racer in the early 50s for Ecurie Ecosse , where he drove Jaguar D Types. His promising career came to an end with an accident that left him with a badly broken arm.

Bo'Ness hillclimb which was a popular venue in the 30's-40's-50's-60s and was the driveway up to a Scottish manor house. It fell into disuse in the mid 60s and was revived in 2008! Some of the top end of the course was built on many years ago so the current layout is a little shorter than previously at the top but has some extra length added prior to the original startline.

This is a superb photo from our archives, very sharp and full of action and atmosphere, printed up from the original negative in a commercial photo lab using the latest techniques.
