Author Jean-Claude Halle recalls the bright brief life of Formula One racing driver Francois Cevert who was Jackie Stewart's loyal team mate in the Elf Tyrrell team at the peak of it's success.

Sadly the popular and dashing Frenchamn was to die in practice for what should have been Stewart's last race before retirement, a situation that would have left him as the team leader in 1974.

Full of Gallic colour and passion, the book evokes a very glamerous era of devil-may-care drivers who were unreatrained by the modern worls of PR and PC, yet raced under the cloud of possible death in cars and on tracks that had yet to feature the kind of safety facilities of today.

Terrific read, very sad at the end. Graham Hill's wife Bette recalled Cevert as "the most beautiful person I have met"
