Insider's view of Lotus in it's early years (1951-62) as it grew out of 'kit car' manufacturing to the revolutionary Elite and Elan road cars . The author was hired as sales director in 1959 when the new factory was opened and recalls working under the gaze of the mercurial and brilliant Colin Chapman as new deals were done, corners were cut and reputations forged. At the same time the F1 team was at it's Zenith and few could resist the charismatic Chapman , even if his methods often ruffled feathers. I am told this book is controversial by 'Lotus people' I have spoken with. "Rewriting history" is a term used often which tends to make this book an even more interesting proposition."Read it an judge for yourself" as the saying goes. 335 pages , 1989 , hardback in very good condition with a jacket that is faded on the spine and a little rubbed from shelving but otherwise very good
