A serious attempt at assessing the cars produced by the nationalized British car maker (later known "BL" and "Rover Group" before it disappeared in the 2000s) on their merits both technical and commercial. The Author seeks to avoid the very common practice in the British media of 'Leyland Bashing' which was hardly helped by disastrous industrial relations and muddles management decision making throughout the company's existence. At the time of writing this book in 1980  British Leyland was still one of the biggest motor manufacturers on the planet and included Mini, Austin, Morris, Jaguar, Daimler, Rover, MG, Triumph and Leyland Trucks. For all it's fiascoes, Daniels points out there was a great deal of advanced thinking and design talent present which made rivals such as Ford seem very conservative indeed...but the commercial decision making above it was hardly of the same caliber...sadly. 192 pages, very good book and jacket. just a little shelf rubbing evident
