Action photo of the famous test pilot and race driver Chris Staniland st apeed in his Alfa Romeo P3 Tipo B Grand Prix car at Brooklands.
I believe this is the 1936 JCC International trophy. He finished 11th. The event was won by B Bira with an ERA from Raymond Mays with another ERA. Staniland later built and ran an Alfa-based special called the Multi-Union which came close to breaking the Brooklands track record of 143mph, only the fact it lapsed onto 7 cylinders during the attempt prevented it beating John Cobb's speed in the much bigger Napier Railton, which stands forever as the absolute lap record.
Staniland was a well known air ministry test pilot who I believe died as a result of an air accident during the war.
