Wonderful atmospheric shot of Dr Farina's factory Alfa Romeo 159 Alfetta Grand Prix car parked in the Goodwood paddock on Sepetmber 29 1951. Next to it is the canvas topped truck used as it's transporter and checking it out are two schoolboys in typical early 50's attire.

This was a rare event at Goodwood for Alfa Romeo were the top team in Grands Prix racing during 1950-51 and world champions in both years with Farina and Fangio. It was quite a coupe for Goodwood to attract one of them to what was a fairly minor end-of-season race meeting. It raced in the Goodwood Trophy held over two 15 lap heats and Farina won easily from Parnell in the Thinwall Special Ferrari and Tony Rolt's 23 year old Delage-ERA.

This was the penultimate race for a works Alfa Romeo 159 in Formula One, the team pulled out of racing after the Spanish GP in late October and didn't reappear untill 1979!
