Superb coverage of a race that should have been run on English soil, as the rules of engagement in this event determined that with S.F. Edge's victory for Napier in 1902 representing Great Britain. It was the requirement of that Country to 'Host' the following year's race. Alas, the laws of our land prevented the running of the race on closed public roads (no other option being available then). Thankfully the law seems to have ben applied differently beyond the mainland and the Irish had a more enlightened attitude to such things (they still do) and came to the rescue providing a well marshalled and organised venue in the form of a circuit of just under 47miles that would be transversed seven times.. Following on as it did just a matter of days after the catastrophic Paris Madrid race which had been halted with much loss of life, it proved that such major motor sport events could be run without such chaos and in effect saved the sport for widespread condemnation at an embryionic stage..Wonderful account of the build-up through to the aftermath of this historic event. The book is in fine codntion and is a very Rare Item
