176 page hardback charting a succession of ever more elaborate and technically ambitious jet powered fighter planes planned for the RAF and in some cases built and tested .Mostly (often quite fanciful ) paper projects, illustrated by artwork and plans but the a machines that were actually constructed are, where possible, shown in period photos so you have the Saunders-Roe P.121 flying boat, the swallow tailed Supermarine 508, the supersonic DH 108, the needle nosed Fairy Delta 2 and so forth . .
